Without You

The dark sky turning bright,
With the rising ball of fire,
Wow! it is a brilliant sight
          But why is it sire
          That I don't enjoy this?
And it is you I miss!

The winding roads up the hill,
With breathtaking views round every bend,
Send up my spine a thrill
But why is it at the end
          That I don't enjoy this?
And it is you I miss!

The beauty of the peacock plume,
Spreading out in a dance,
Can get me out of ant gloom
But why is it that I'm never in a trance
          That I don't enjoy this?
And it is you I miss!

The beautiful sky so clear,
With galaxies and stars shining,
It is as if I am very near
But why is it that my heart is always pining
          That I don't enjoy this?
And it is you I miss!

The Walk of Life

As you walk the path of life
Don’t think of it as strife
It’s just a state of mind
for the right balance to find

there maybe grief
but it will be brief
if you keep trying
to not keep crying

of others feelings you care
keeping your life bare
its good to think of your wish
at the cost of being selfish

to you people matter
some hurt you by their chatter
only  with time you will find
that those who matter don’t mind

talking and sharing is not a ruse
to friends use
walking with friends in the dark
is like a walk in the park

you are a lonely seed
friends are what you need
it’s important for him to be an ace
doesn’t matter from which race

As you walk the path of life
Don’t think of it as strife
Don’t for milestones gloom
But in moments bloom

You Never Know When They Start

Matters of the heart,
You never know when they start,

Was it at the first sight,
or after the big fight,

Was it at the walks,
or after the talks,

Was it the eyes and lips,
or after the trips,

Was it during the time crunches,
or after the shared lunches,

Was it during the call,
or after the fall,

Was it the laughter,
or after the banter,

Was it the last birth,
or after the rebirth,

Matters of the heart,
You never know when they start.

Bahut Socha

बहुत सोचा के क्या कहूं ,
बहुत सोचा क्या कहूं,
"I'll get you the moon"
but it's about being true

बहुत सोचा क्या कहूं ,
बहुत सोचा क्या कहूं,
"you make my heart bloom"
but it's about me and not you

बहुत सोचा क्या कहूं,
बहुत सोचा क्या कहूं,
"your friendship is the life boon...
but it's incomplete without you"

Eighteen!

As we turn eighteen,
What a journey it has been
lets look back
and take stock

The founders dared to dream
a daunting task it may seem

from toddler steps
to larger leaps
from hey days
to grey days

The employees put in the effort
while advisors gave their support

As we turn eighteen
widely are we seen
lets not on our laurels rest
but continue to give it our best

we have miles to go
and promises to keep

Wish is a wish

I wished a friend on Onam a little belated, and this is what she had to say ...

Wish is a wish..
Even for a fish..
Of course its ok to come in a little late-ish!
Wish is a wish..
Even for a fish..

...

Life has been but a cake walk
You wished it was written with chalk
Your character has been so strong
Obstacles disappear before long
Not willing with frustration to be torn
You’ve always taken the bull by the horn
Conquered every peak
Week after week
Just as you think its time to play
God has something different to say
Smiling and laughing and crying within
settled for nothing less than a win
Left you alone have I my dear
What should I do it is not clear
Hope I just
and you I trust
If unable to sail
will call me without fail

Those Were The Days!!!

I wonder what got into us
We did not want to miss the bus
The terms weren’t very fine
But it was a Silverline

Sifting through the files
Working without smiles
The team did its task
With a plastic mask

We are not the kind
To just fit in the grind
In a short while
The team was all smile

Gale and TAF
Were but a laugh
At tea and lunch
We were a bunch

The work increased
It never ceased
With deadlines to keep
and nights without sleep

Soon there were new faces
working at different paces
It wasn’t easy
To work the lazy

There were differences
By different inferences
That tested our might
but boss wasn’t always right

Soon people were gone
One by one
Some for the stork
Others for work

As the chapter came to a close
We hoped friends not to lose
And say always
Those were the days

I wonder what got into us
Why there was so much fuss
Over the terms being fine
Now i’ don't even think in that line

MJ-Gone too soon

The king of pop has gone
Yes, he was the one

For me he was good
only when in mood
but millions did not find it odd
to think of him as god
I never ceased to be amazed
to see the crowd dazed

I am feeling sad
though I never was mad
Michael Jackson!!!!
"You've Gone too soon"

Murtuza Khetty

Here is a poem that a friend of mine wrote

Murtuza Khetty
Is a Gujarati
With a childhood in Bengali
And grown into a Bangalori.

Courteous, soft spoken and patient
He heads the organisation
Works 24x7 deadlines to reach
And still find time children to teach

A head full of ideas
A heart filled with desires
He works hard to achieve
But prefers as desires to leave.

“I have lost my EPIC”says he one day.
That’s not surprising, his colleagues say
His table boasts a clutter
That few can match or better.

“Wedding bells for me never
I propose to be single forever.”
Don’t ‘feel like” he proclaims
None has yet set his passions aflame?!!!

“I take care of myself”,to me he told.
But, headaches, backaches and colds
Are his ‘chaddi dosts’
Prides that he can fast
Even when Ramzan is past.

He loves pasta and ice cream
Loves to travel and dream
Lets hope inter alia
That he finds his Belle Italia!!

An Ode of Gratitude

This is a poem a friend wrote for me...

“Write a poem”, in natural tone
You said to me thru’ the phone
Though with awe I do respond
A POEM and ME!! Not so fond.

Lying down with my plastered leg
I searched for a theme for your blog
Slowly like clouds, pieces gather
With magical words put together.

I fear my poem shall be lost
In the crowd of blog it may rest
All my feelings close to my heart
I am jotting down with sincere note

Is it Affection? Gratitude? Or Fondness?
I asked myself in deep stillness.
Many a time I feel I’m grateful
But I feel it’s a mixture of all.

Putting others before yourself
Giving time and smiling help
Expecting nothing in return, you act
Rarely seen, it is a fact.

For all the help you showered so often
With a sincere heart and feelings plain
I thank my God for giving a friend
And let the bond flow till the end.

Magic Drum!!!

we are story tellers,
we travel, we sing, we dance
we are revelers,
whenever we have a chance

from within the magic drum,
come out stories after the magic chant
tales full of fun, gaiety, songs we love to hum,
and the audience enchant

our style is different,
interaction with audience is the key
be it the child or the parent,
it is for all to see

the script and music is fun,
the props and costumes are neat
sets there are none,
lights are a treat

playwrights were a funny bunch,
the directors had their craft
production are on the crunch,
music and lights are the heart

there is magic in the air,
this is what theatre is all about
and beware,
once you are in, you’re never out

Good Morning!

'Repetitive is boring
Come up with something new'
Its always what I’ve been storing
And those are just a few

so here I am giving it a go
its been long, will it come ?
I really don’t know
till I’ve actually tried some

when you wake up
you are engulfed by brightness
with your tea cup
you are filled with freshness

days that start
with a greeting from me
livens the heart
however tough the day may be

so… to a wonderful day
from me to you
in a spirit gay
Good morning to you!!!

Happy 75!

This one I had Ghost written for Nabeel... to wish his nanaji on his 75th birthday.
here goes ....
Mom and Dad wanted us to write to you,how you have made a difference to our lives,
your love and support. Your contribution to society and all the good that you have done.
But those are what they want to say... I have a small poem for you

I say not big things to you,
they are just few,
its not to remember in life how or what to others you have done,
its the day to remember how much it has been fun,

do you remember:
for a gift wait,
that you would get on june eight,

the wait for a holiday,
to go out and play,

the wait for the school opening bell,
to meet your friends and stories tell,

felt you what,
when cycle you got,

how happy you were when you finished school,
and thought college was going to be cool,

your first salary in hand,
did you feel grand?

what about when you met nani,
were you sharm se pani pani?

when they first put mommy in your lap,
did you in joy clap?

when you first mamu saw,
did you know he was going to study law,

1996 31st december,
do you remember?

when you saw adam, sakeenah and aliyah,
what went through your mind... yah?

and this surprise party today,
when everybody sang Happy Birthday!

... now nanaji from all of us here in bangalore: Happy birthday to you!

Death of a Princess

It had been a holiday
nine days, fun and gay
Paris a hop
before the London stop

In wait they stood
to make good
she knew their game
it was always the same

to them get rid
a simple plan did
the decoy took the mass
but the others were no ass

they did not fall for the bait
but continued to wait
As she left the place
they stood in her face

here to there, the foot on the gas
finally to the underpass
the car crashed on pillar thirteen
at a very high speed it had been

with injuries she lay
they continued the play
'oh my god!'..."leave me alone" she said
on the stretcher laid

Why??

This poem was written (october 2005) in reply to the following mail, which resulted out of a mail giving information about a theatre workshop. (I just remembered it in Rangashankara yesterday night while watching "The Ungrateful man")

WHY???>Why do people who take part in a play at the age of six think they are>experts in drama and must offer training workshops?>Why do people think that they are qualified to run drama training workshops>with a fee?>Why do people repackage party games in so many different ways and dish them>out in the name of drama training for personality development?>Why is drama related training becoming so cheapified?

this was my reply

Why?
Ask my friends, I

Why Not?
Is the answer, I got

At six, they were on stage
and you,were of playing age

training with a fee
since lunch is never free

repackaged it is an art
for the unknowing heart

with disgust you say, it is cheapified
with the trust they pay, it is glorified

Good Morning!!!

Tis dawn
do not yawn
here is a wish
with a kiss
to make your day
happy and gay
